Have you ever encountered someone who appeared to be an angel of light, but their true intentions were dark and deceptive?

Have you ever had dreams, or visions, or fallen into a trance and seen someone (face) wanting to hurt you, who apparently is using demonic impersonation of someones’ face?

Paul warns that Satan can masquerade as an angel of light, and his servants can do the same.

In today’s devotional, we will explore the reality of demonic impersonation and how we can guard ourselves against falling prey to the enemy’s schemes.

Anchor verse of the day

14 Yet I am not surprised! Satan can change himself into an angel of light, 15 so it is no wonder his servants can do it too, and seem like godly ministers. In the end, they will get every bit of punishment their wicked deeds deserve.

2 Corinthians 11:14-15 (TLB)

In our anchor passage of 2 Corinthians 11:14-15, the Apostle Paul is warning the Corinthian church about false teachers who are disguising themselves as apostles of Christ.

Paul is concerned and he encourages them to be vigilant and discerning in order to protect themselves from such deception.

What are the central themes in 2 Corinthians 11:14-15

  • Deception and Falsehood: This passage warns against the deceptive tactics of Satan and his servants, who may appear as “angels of light” but are actually agents of darkness.
  • Spiritual Warfare: The reality of spiritual conflict, where believers must be discerning and vigilant in order to resist the schemes of the devil and his allies.
  • Authority and Authenticity: The importance of true apostolic authority and authenticity in the church and the danger of false apostles who seek to undermine or replace genuine apostles.
  • Gospel Purity and Clarity: The centrality of the gospel message and its purity, and warns against those who distort or pervert it for their own purposes.
  • Trusting in God’s Protection: To trust in God’s protection and provision, knowing that He is able to guard and preserve them from all harm and deception.

Believer beware

Satan impersonates good people via dreams and visions to deceive and lure people away from the truth. He appears as an angel of light, spiritual guide, or loved one who has passed away.

Through these false identities, he manipulates people to believe lies and make harmful decisions. Some witches and wizars also use this tactic to deceive believers.

It is important for believers to be discerning and to test every spirit, vision, and dream to ensure that they are from God and not from the enemy.

Reflection on “Demonic Impersonation”

As a believer, it is important to be aware of the reality of demonic impersonation and its potential impact on our lives. The Bible warns us that Satan masquerades as an angel of light, and his goal is to deceive and lead people astray. We must be vigilant in guarding our hearts and minds against such deceptions.

One way to protect ourselves from demonic impersonation is by staying rooted in God’s word and developing a close relationship with Him through prayer and worship. We must also be discerning of the messages we receive, testing them against the truth of Scripture and seeking the guidance of the Holy Spirit.

Furthermore, we can take comfort in the fact that God is greater than any demonic force and has given us the power to resist the devil and his schemes. Through faith in Christ and the power of the Holy Spirit, we can overcome any attack or deception of the enemy.

Beloved, demonic impersonation is a real and dangerous threat that believers must be aware of.

By staying close to God, discerning the messages we receive, and relying on the power of the Holy Spirit, we can overcome any deception and remain firmly rooted in the truth of God’s word.

Prayer points for demonic impersonation

  • Protection: Pray for God’s protection from any form of demonic impersonation. Ask Him to shield you from the schemes of the enemy and to reveal any deceptive tactics that the devil may be using to impersonate God, angels, or even people you know.
  • Discernment: Pray for discernment to recognize any instances of demonic impersonation. Ask God to give you spiritual discernment to distinguish between what is truly from God and what is a counterfeit from the enemy.
  • Authority: Pray for the authority that Christ has given you to resist the devil’s schemes. Ask God to help you to stand firm against any form of demonic impersonation and to use the spiritual weapons at your disposal, such as prayer and the Word of God, to overcome the enemy.
  • Revelation: Ask God to reveal the identity of witches and wizards who take on the identity of others to harm you.
