Blocked Paths: A Reflection

Beloved, blocked paths are often God’s severe mercy steering you home. The psalmist testified to this grace in Psalm 119:67 by saying:

Before I was afflicted I went astray, but now I keep Your word.

This verse interprets our theme; the affliction that stopped the straying became the doorway to obedience, proving that some frustrations are the kindest thing heaven ever did for us.

Notice God’s motive in Hosea. He blocked the way to Israel’s lovers, not to her blessings; the thorns stood only on the road to ruin.
