We are wired to want to understand everything, especially the future. What is coming? How will it end? Why is this happening? And when God does not hand us the answers, it can feel unsettling, even like He is hiding something from us.

But God told Daniel something that brings a strange peace: shut up the words and seal the book until the time of the end. Some things were sealed on purpose. You don’t need all the answers, He said in effect; trust My timing.

This devotional offers rest to a restless mind. Because you don’t need all the answers to trust God; you only need to trust the God who holds them all.

Rest in the God who holds every answer, even the hidden ones.

As you trust Him with the unknown, remove your data with Optery.

You Don’t Need All the Answers: Key Takeaway

  • You do not need all the answers; trust the God who holds them all.

Verse of the Day

After giving Daniel one of the most overwhelming prophetic visions in the Bible, God gave him a surprising instruction: shut up the words, and seal the book until the time of the end.

Notice what this means. Some of what Daniel received was deliberately sealed until the appointed time, kept obscure and mysterious. Daniel was not meant to fully understand it all, and that was by God’s design, not by accident.

This teaches a humbling, freeing truth. God reveals some things and seals others. Not everything is ours to figure out right now. Some answers are kept in God’s hands, unfolded only in His perfect timing. And that is okay. We can trust the One who holds the sealed things, even when we cannot read them.

Key Explanations
  • Shut up the words: God told Daniel to close up part of the revelation, not explain it fully now.
  • Seal the book until the time of the end: some truth was kept sealed for God’s appointed time.
  • The obscurity of prophecy: God intentionally leaves some things mysterious until He chooses to reveal them.
  • Trust over answers: our task is not to know everything, but to trust the God who does.

You Don’t Need All the Answers: A Reflection

Our minds crave certainty. We want the timeline, the reasons, the whole picture. But God’s message to Daniel gently reminds us that you don’t need all the answers to walk faithfully with Him.

Some things He seals until the right time, obscure until their fulfillment, and demanding to know them now only steals your peace.

The disciples wrestled with this too. Just before Jesus ascended, they asked Him, Lord, will You at this time restore the kingdom to Israel?

They wanted the timing, the plan, the details. But Jesus lovingly redirected them. He said, it is not for you to know times or seasons which the Father has put in His own authority.

And then He gave them what they did need: you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you shall be witnesses.

In other words, you don’t need all the answers about the future; you need the Spirit and a mission right now.

Deuteronomy 29:29 draws the line beautifully: the secret things belong to the Lord our God, but the things revealed belong to us, that we may obey.

Meaning, God keeps the secret things. He gives us the revealed things to live by.

So make peace with mystery. Rest in the secret things that belong to God, trust that His ways are higher than yours, and lean into the nature of the God you can trust.

You don’t need all the answers. You just need Him.
