Seek Good Not Evil: A Daily Devotional (Amos 5:14)

The onus rest on every believer to seek good not evil. Most of us do not wake up planning to do evil. But we drift. A small compromise here, a tolerated wrong there, and slowly our lives bend toward what is easy instead of what is good.

But Caleb saw the same giants and chose to seek good and not evil. He said we are well able to take the land, because God is with us. He set his heart on trusting God when everyone else set theirs on fear.

And what did God say about him? That Caleb had a different spirit and followed the Lord fully.

While that entire generation perished in the wilderness, Caleb entered the land God promised. He sought good, he lived, and God’s presence went with him.

That is the promise of this verse for you. You do not drift into goodness; you have to reach for it. Romans 12:9 puts it simply: abhor what is evil, cling to what is good.

When you seek good and not evil, choosing honesty over the easy lie, kindness over cruelty, obedience over compromise, you are aligning your life with God Himself.

So make it a target today. Walk in integrity, become a heart that seeks God, and you will find yourself living in His presence. Seek good and not evil, and watch the God of hosts draw near.
